Our Story

Situated 60 kilometres south of Windhoek, enroute to Rehoboth, EdenBerry Strawberry Farm is set on farm NarUxas and has a rich history, filled with opportunity. Established in 2020 by Richard and Desery van Wyk, who initially ventured in the cultivation of a variety of vegetables for commercial purposes. In March 2021, during devotion time with the Lord, the couple received the revelation to focus on strawberries.

Formally known as NaruXas, the farm produces more than 5 tonnes of strawberries per year and plans to double its production capacity in the coming months.

The van Wyks are trend-setters, passionate about supplying to the local market and giving Namibians a wholesome and unforgettable experience. They believe farmers should band together to help Namibian agriculture thrive and curb the importation of goods that can be locally sourced at affordable prices.

Our Strawberries

Delicious and organic strawberries have been growing at EdenBerry Farm since 2020 and over 5 tonnes harvested every year. First class fruit is picked and supplied to national retailers countrywide. Visitors can pick the freshest berries in our fields or buy fresh or frozen strawberries and jams.

Season

The best time to pick our delicious strawberries is from August to January every year.

Variety

Our strawberries are Californian varieties, which are well suited for the climate we enjoy in central Namibia.

Shelf Life

Strawberries normally have a five day shelf life. However, when they are looked after and refrigerated, shelf-life can be extended up to seven days depending on the season.

Care

To keep strawberries fresh and sweet, it’s essential to take care of strawberries after picking them. Strawberries don’t like water after harvesting therefore, remember to rinse only just before eating to keep it fresh.

Always refrigerate strawberries once you are home and only wash them when you are ready to eat them or use them in salads and other dishes. Gently rinse the strawberries under cool water while the green calyx is still on. After washing them, you can remove the calyx and then let the strawberries reach room temperature before serving to enhance their natural flavour.
